Obituary of Elvira Salazar Lao

Dr. Elvira S. Lao, died on May 29, 2011 at Mercy Retirement and Care Center in Oakland. She was born June 2, 1919 in the Philippines and came to the United States in 1948 as a GI bride of the now deceased Emy C. Lao. She obtained her medical degree in the Philippines in 1944 and practiced medicine in the US at San Joaquin Health Department, the Stockton State Hospital, medical weight loss clinics in Stockton, Sacramento and the Bay Area, and lastly as the medical director of the Stockton Plasma Center until her retirement in 1995. She is survived by a son, Ernest S. Lao of Oakland, daughter, Elizabeth Lao-Scott of Reno, Nevada, and a grandson, Christopher Lao-Scott of Alameda and innumerable relatives in the Philippines. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, at 10:00 AM St. Anne's Catholic Church with committal to follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at Rocha's Mortuary, 215 So. School St. in Lodi.
