Obituary of William G. Dalton

The Rev. Dr. William G. Dalton, former pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist 1978-1981 passed away Friday, June 17, 2011. Dr. Dalton was a native of Saskatchewan, Canada and was a minister of the United Church of Canada until he left for graduate studies at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California in the summer of 1947. He and his wife, Rev. Tobina Gunning, accepted an appointment to the Ceres United Methodist Church in 1954. He served several churches in Northern California including Orland, San Bruno, Sebastopol and Redwood City. He ultimately retired to Stockton, California in 1981. Dr. Dalton was a lifelong supporter of the University of the Pacific, specifically the Conservatory of Music, the Stockton Symphony and Stockton Civic Theatre. He was an accomplished pianist, a voracious reader, an opera lover and an avid stamp collector. He traveled all over the world with the most memorable trips being the rain forest of Venezuela, Great Wall of China, Palestine, Egypt and his wife's family in the Netherlands. He leaves behind five children: Marianna Dalton Al-Jundi (husband Soubeih), Jan Dalton (wife Julie), Suzanne Dalton (partner Brian Zabelski), Kathleen Dalton Bracho (husband Otto) and George Dalton (wife Kathy); and eight grandchildren: Adriana, Rema, David, Daniel, Sonia, Joseph, Hans and Anaka.
