Obituary of David L. Schnell

Dave Schnell, 67, passed away on March 29, 2012 after a seven year battle with throat cancer. Dave was born and raised in Lodi, CA where he was active in 4H and sports. He graduated from Lodi High School, attended Delta College and Radio and TV School in Wisconsin. After moving to Ventura, CA, Dave was very active in Montalvo Little League and AYSO Soccer where he umpired and coached his sons' little league and soccer teams for many years. He also loved his New York Yankees, horse racing, football season and sports trivia. After his cancer diagnosis, Dave joined the "Look Who's Talking" laryngectomy support group and was passionate about sharing his story, speaking to elementary age students through individuals at the college level about the hazards of smoking. Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carlette; sons Andy (Senny) and Matt (Jodie) and granddaughters, Katie, Taylor and Haniyah. Also survived by his mother, Charlotte Schnell; sister Charlene (Don) Wortley; mother-in-law, Edna Nuss; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sandy) Nuss and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Abe Schnell. Dave's family would like to thank Acera Care Hospice along with his Kaiser doctors and nurses. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April. 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Rocha's Mortuary, 215 S. School St., Lodi, CA. Pastor Chester Lum, officiating.
