Virgil Gene Batterton, 66, of Stockton died May 2, 2013 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born December 9, 1946 in Lodi and grew up in Woodbridge and moved to Lodi prior to graduating from Lodi High School. Gene received his Associate of arts degree from Delta College and also attended C.S.U. at Sacramento. He was a man of many occupations, beginning his career at Tri-Valley Cannery, Lodi wineries and in construction. Finally after receiving his college degree he worked as a counselor for San Jaoquin County. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Virgil Batterton, and a sister Laurie Batterton. He is survived by sons Ian and Brandon Batterton, sisters, Darlene Griffin, Linda Lentz, a brother Tom Batterton, three grandchildren and nieces and nephews. No services are planned at this time.
