Obituary of Duane Melvin Linstrom
Duane Melvin Linstrom December 31st 1916 - December 20th 2013 A workingman: building contractor; "purveyor of fine cement"; Lockheed mechanic and supervisor; World War II vet; state building inspector; superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, Lodi Unified School District; in every job, committed to doing it right and well. A family man: 65 years of loving marriage to Gloria; proud father of Duane, Barbara, Hugh, Margaret, Ruth and John; grandfather of 17; great-grandfather of 15; family patriarch for nieces and nephews and the extended family. A man of Christian character: loved and honored his wife through 65 years of marriage; involved with his children through their youth and source of wisdom in their adult life; a much loved grandfather and uncle; a loyal friend; an example of hospitality; committed to service in his church; Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader; a man who lived out the values he held so strongly. A man of varied interests: storyteller par excellence; family Scrabble champ ;a loyal American who thought deeply about politics and society and shared his opinions; frequent contributor of letters to the editor, Lodi News Sentinel and Stockton Record; regular newsletter mailed to the extended family full of family news, stories and thoughtful observations; UCLA athletics fan; an interesting mind and a lively personality. Duane Linstrom: a long life well lived; caring, generous, and fun to be with; a man you could enjoy swapping stories and sharing thoughts with for a long time. Graveside interment service will be Friday, December 27 at Lodi Memorial Cemetery, 5750 East Pine Street, Lodi, CA at 2 p.m. The memorial service will be on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 am at Big Valley Bible Church, 226 East Poplar Street, Lodi. A reception and light lunch to follow the memorial service.
