Obituary of Coralyn Ruth Adkins

Coralyn Ruth Adkins of Lodi, lovingly known as "Corky", peacefully left this earth on January 8th, 2014 at the age of 81. Corky was born as Coralyn Ruth Rohl in Benton Harbor, Michigan on March 2nd, 1932. She married Leonard Adkins on November 25th 1948 and enjoyed 48 years of marriage with him until his death in 1997. Leonard and Corky met and married in the state of Washington where they began their family, having 3 children together. In the 70's, they relocated their family to Ione, California and lived there for several years until moving to the Lodi area where she spent the rest of her life. Corky was employed by the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician for over 20 years. Once retired, she volunteered for the community in various ways, including with the S.T.A.R.S (Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors) organization and for 20 years as a tax preparer for seniors with the AARP. She received numerous commendations for her selfless work. Corky lived independently at Arbor Senior Apartments where she was involved in many activities, such as Bridge & Bingo and especially enjoyed trips up to the Jackson Rancheria Casino. Corky loved animals and had many fond memories with her pets. Corky was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Adkins, a son Steven Adkins, a son-in-law Myron Trigg, a daughter-in-law Diane Adkins and a grandson, Michael Vierra. She is survived by a son, Dale Adkins, a daughter Marjorie Trigg, a daughter-in-law Lynda Martens, two grandsons Gregory Vierra and Jacob (Michelle) Adkins, two granddaughters Jami Vierra and Joleen (Robert) Tristan, nine great grandchildren and many other people who loved and adored her . Corky was a very kind, charitable and noble person. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family is very appreciative of the staff at Community Hospice for providing their loving support and care near the end of Corky's life. As a last gift of charity, Corky donated her body to science for research. Services will be arranged by Rocha's Mortuary and will be private.
