Theresa Catherine Herman was born May 23rd, 1923 in Manhattan, New York. She was the first child of Sicilian parents Pietro and Giovannina Assetta who immigrated to the United States. She was succeeded by brothers Pete and Michael and sisters Mary, Connie and Paula. She had two sons, Edward Porter and Charles Porter. In the late 1950's she moved to Williamsport, Pennsylvania where she spent many years as a registered nurse running her own nursing home and giving her time to many charitable organizations including church fundraisers, Women in Small Business groups and other community services. She is preceded in death by her brothers Peter Assetta and Michael Bivona and is survived by her sisters Mary, Connie and Paula, sons Charles and Edward, daugher-in-law Nancy Porter, grandchildren Joshua, Anthony and Katie Porter and great-grandchildren Patience Rose Porter and Jae Sun Atticus Porter. She built close friendships over the years and was friendly to others as others were friendly to her. Her friends and family will remember her as a woman of strong Catholic faith and immense intestinal fortitude. Theresa Catherine Herman: May 23, 1923- December 8th 2017.
